ESG Academy – A New Standard of Business Support

As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen the competitiveness of domestic businesses, the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Srpska (CCRS) has successfully developed a new service – the ESG Academy. The service was created as a key component of the project “Digitally Sustainable Green Transition of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises in the Republic of Srpska – DiGreenSMEs”, implemented through the EU Initiative for Private Sector Development in Bosnia and Herzegovina with financial support from the European Union and the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Responding to the Demands of the Modern Market

Recognising that sustainable business practices and reporting on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) standards are becoming essential requirements for accessing international markets and sources of finance, the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Srpska has incorporated the ESG Academy into its portfolio as a comprehensive support service for businesses.

Top-Level Expertise for Domestic Companies

The ESG Academy was delivered in cooperation with experts from the renowned consulting firm KPMG. Through a free educational programme, participants gained insight into the latest methodologies and regulatory requirements. Across four intensive modules, company representatives developed an understanding of the EU regulatory framework, resource management and decarbonisation (E), social responsibility (S), and the establishment of ethical governance principles (G).

Key Results and Benefits for Companies

The ESG Academy helps small and medium-sized enterprises improve their competitiveness, attract investors, access new markets, and meet the expectations of customers and business partners. Upon completing the programme, participants gained:

  • Readiness for ESG reporting – Companies are equipped to collect and analyse the data required for sustainability reporting to international business partners and financial institutions.
  • Compliance with EU regulations – Participants gain an in-depth understanding of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and other relevant regulations that directly affect the export competitiveness of domestic companies.
  • Improved competitiveness – Applying the acquired knowledge helps companies optimise resource use, reduce operating costs, and strengthen their reputation as responsible and sustainable businesses.

The ESG Academy is not merely a completed project but a permanent service jointly provided by the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Srpska and DIH IDEMO. It will continue to serve as a knowledge hub for small and medium-sized enterprises across the Republic of Srpska. Through this initiative, the Chamber further strengthens the portfolio of services offered within the DIH IDEMO ecosystem and reinforces its role as a leading partner in the digital and green transformation of the economy.

Through DIH IDEMO, the ESG Academy is connected to a broader innovation ecosystem, enabling businesses to access knowledge, technologies, and expert support required to meet EU requirements and advance their green transition.
