Energy Management Consultant Training Kicks Off

March 20, 2026

Today, the energy management training has started, aimed at professionals who want to provide quality support to manufacturing SMEs in the energy transition process.

The training is organized within the DESET project – Digitally Enabled Sustainable Energy Transition of manufacturing SMEs, implemented with the support of the European Union and the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany (BMZ), under the EU4PSD – Private Sector Development initiative in BiH.

During the two-day training, participants will master the key steps of ISO 50001 – from initial assessment to certification – and understand the consultant’s role and the impact of EU/regulatory requirements on SMEs. They will work practically on tasks such as rapid energy review according to ISO 50002, defining the energy baseline (EnB) and performance indicators (EnPI), setting goals and an action plan, as well as the basics of internal auditing and continuous improvement. The training concludes with a knowledge check (test and case study).

The training is structured as a combination of short lectures, group work, and mini case studies from local industry, with a hands-on approach and ready-to-use templates (checklists, report forms, and client briefs) applicable directly in enterprises.

After completing the cycle, participants will apply the acquired knowledge by working with SMEs under mentorship support and through experience sharing.

The DESET project is part of the Private Sector Development initiative in BiH and is implemented by DIH IDEMO, consisting of Eda – Enterprise Development Agency as the lead project partner, together with partners – Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Banja Luka, Chamber of Commerce of Republika Srpska, Innovation Center Banja Luka, and Development Agency of Republika Srpska.
