How to organize emissions data, determine who is responsible for it, and prepare it for reporting and verification? These were precisely the practical questions addressed during the online CBAM training held on 28 September and 1 October 2026 as part of the DESET project, with representatives of 62 companies taking part.
The participants included representatives of companies from the metal and metal-processing, mechanical engineering, electrical and electronics, wood, plastics and ALU/PVC products, food and energy industries, as well as representatives of several institutions and organizations.
The training was led by Aleksej Misailović from InterCert d.o.o. Novi Sad, with a focus on translating CBAM requirements into concrete internal processes. Participants worked through the organization of emissions data and calculations, the monitoring plan and data sources, traceability and quality control, as well as the division of responsibilities between producers in Bosnia and Herzegovina, verifiers, and importers or authorized CBAM declarants in the EU.
A dedicated part of the training focused on preparing the emissions report and working in the CBAM Registry/O3CI module, including a demonstration of the portal and a guided practical exercise. A practical example of an automated internal system for emissions monitoring and calculation, reporting and verification was also presented.
For companies from Bosnia and Herzegovina doing business with customers in the European Union market, CBAM increasingly means that emissions data needs to be available, reliable and verifiable. Preparing for CBAM is therefore not simply a matter of understanding the regulations — it also requires clearly defined responsibilities, well-organized data sources and processes that enable the necessary information to be prepared and submitted on time.
The training was organized within the DESET project – Digitally Enabled Sustainable Energy Transition of manufacturing SMEs, implemented with the support of the European Union and the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany (BMZ), within the framework of the EU Private Sector Development Initiative.
The DESET project is implemented by DIH IDEMO, comprising Eda – Enterprise Development Agency as the lead partner, together with its partners – the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Banja Luka, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Srpska, the Innovation Centre Banja Luka, and the Development Agency of the Republic of Srpska.
